The Biomedical Engineer develops specific scientific, technological and administrative solutions optimal for the human health area.
Study Plan and Academic Areas:
The study plan is structured in three academic cycles which are: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced Levels of Training.
The specific study areas are described below:
Rehabilitation: Design and implementation of solutions for individuals who are physically impaired. It focuses on the development of aids for communications, movement and learning.
Clinical Engineering: Technical, logistic and administrative management of hospitals and clinics. It has an important component of management of biomedical technologies, metrology, infrastructure, hospital safety and also Telemedicine.
Health Biotechnology: Intervention at a molecular and cellular level in order to provide technological solutions to health problems. All this based on genetics and cell and tissue cultivation.
Biomaterials: Design, development and application of different biocompatible materials for the construction of instruments, devices and implants used in health assistance.
Bio-instrumentation: Monitoring and processing of biological signals and images in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Design and development of biomedical devices and screen imaging devices.
