Study Plan and Academic Areas:

The organization and coherence designed for the study plan allow activities with a high degree of integration, and progressive and balanced repetition in theory and practice.

During the first four semesters of basic level training the student understands the functioning of the human being and recognizes it as psycho-somatic social unit. At this level, the subjects converge around the different systems such as: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal and digestive among others. Other subjects involved, according to their relevance, are morphology, physiopathology, biochemistry and physical examination. Similarly, computer science, sociology, the conceptual foundations of public health and other complementary subjects.

During the fifth and eight semesters of intermediate level training the students continue with further analysis of the phenomena related to the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of the most common diseases in children, the elderly, mothers and adults. This includes theoretical and practical activities in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Surgery, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Orthopedics, Anesthesia, Gynecology, Obstetrics and other specialties.

During the advanced level (last two years of our program) we emphasize on the development of skills, attitudes and application of acquired knowledge throughout the major. The last year is called “internship”, since 100% of the activities are practical and the student remains in the clinic environment with the teachers. This last level is very flexible because the student can decide on the medical area of greater interest.

During these three levels and in each semester of medical training the student has the possibility of learning and developing research as an element that will make it possible, after graduation, to contribute to scientific knowledge and maintain a continuous upgrading process. Likewise, the socio-humanistic area has a constant and important role in all academic semesters, allowing our students to obtain a solid human formation as well as the cultural richness to contribute to provide personal and social growth.
