This program seeks to train professionals with high academic quality, competent to conduct investigations to produce knowledge and propose solutions to environmental problems, aimed at achieving sustainable utilization of natural resources, with ability to manage natural resources and perform efficiently alternatives for institutions of the National Environmental System.

Study Plan and Academic Areas:
The study plan is structured in five academic areas: Ecology, basic sciences, knowledge management, social and humanistics and management.

The specific study areas are described below

Ecology: Contains the study of the earth, climate, ecosystems and interactions of organisms with the environment.

Basic sciences: They are the basis for understanding the biological phenomena and relationships between organisms and the environment and, provide tools to enhance the ability of analysis, design, development and application of study methods, technologies and alternatives to conserve and use biodiversity.

Knowledge management: The faculty of Sciences and Biotechnology, has research groups recognized by COLCIENCIAS (CES-EIA Biology, GIBEC) and in process of consolidation (Pharmaceutical Sciences), whose lines of research (Genetics, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Diversity and Conservation, Biotechnology and Biotechnology for Health) are available to support the scientific training of ecologists. In addition, new lines of research have been created (Ecological Restoration, Eco epidemiology and Ecotoxicology) which will be part of the new Ecology research group at CES.

Management, Social and humanistic: Prepares and motivates ecologists, in terms of its social responsibility and the ability to envision and plan their work through research and innovation, thereby contributing to the development of society.
